This is Niko
A Yorkie mix with a big personality and an even bigger voice.

He loved standing in the yard chatting with every dog in the neighborhood, digging for buried treasure where none existed, and following close behind like the tiny shadow he always was. If I moved, Niko moved. If I sat down, he was already there ready to cuddle.

He was eight years old and full of life.

Five months before he passed, Niko suddenly began having seizures. The only way to determine the cause was a $5,000 MRI. Like many pet owners, I simply wasn’t in a position to afford that kind of cost overnight. Instead, we started him on a strict regimen of medication three times a day while I tried to find a way to get him the treatment he needed.

For a while, it worked. Niko seemed like his happy, playful self again.

Then on the evening of August 19, 2025, everything changed.

He had a seizure… then another… and another.

I rushed him to the vet where he experienced two more seizures and a heart-related event from the stress his body was under. Niko passed away, August 20, 2025.

Losing him was devastating. But one thing stayed with me through it all:
